Abstract : . This study aims to explore the status quo of Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) used at the Jordanian commercial banks in protecting and retrieving data in their Accounting Information Systems (AIS). The researchers designed a questionnaire then distributed it to all the 17th commercial banks operating in Jordan. Fourteen (14) questionnaires were retrieved with an (82.3%) response rate. Findings reveal the following: 1. The Jordanian Commercial banks are well aware of the importance of DRP to protect their AIS and they have their own DRPs. 2. Disaster Recovery Plans are supported by the Board of Directors of the subject banks of the study. 3. The DRPs of Jordanian commercial banks encompass the most important key elements of an adequate DRP. 4. However, the DRPs of the subject banks need to consider the following: a. Protection of bank's employees at disasters times. b. It is essential that DRPs in subject banks to consider wars and political instability as disasters. c. The DRPs of subject banks must provide a manual of the necessary procedures that must be followed at disaster periods. Based on the above mentioned findings the researchers wrote their recommendations.
