Abstract : This paper studies one aspect of Arab religious life in the pre-Islam era that is expressed in “Oaths” which represented their beliefs and deferent religious practices. The presence of those “oaths” in their poetry has pictured the significance of that religious aspect in there life. The paper analyzes models of poetry containing phrases indicating “Oaths” as will as phrases indicating “ swearing by “: Poetic models that were Studied showed the following. -Phrases indicating the Oath and include. -Phrases indicating the sworn by. -Sworn by as Arabs swore by many things such as summer by God, by things point to God, by God’s house, by grave, by fire, by father, by age by scarified animals, and by "Allatt walozza". - Conditional Oath which means deviation from regular oath by certain phrases.
