Abstract |

Recently, there is a manpower imbalance between expatriates
versus natives in the labor market of Saudi Arabia. This led the public policy
planners. to direct the research towards examining and analyzing this problem.
As a step in this direction, this report focuses on the process of Saudisation,
i.e., replacing the foreign technical and skilled labor with Saudi labor, in the
construction industry.
A case study, of a private eSlablishment, presents the challenges of
Saudisation for construction supervision jobs. It primarily provides a sound
representation of the problem of Saudisation under constraint conditions. In the
context of this case study, the comparison of the qualifications and experiences
of expatriates and ,those of Saudis are highlighted. A decision-making tree is
proposed to represent Ihe various ahemalive courses of Saudisation under the
case study constraints conditions, Gradual Saudisation based on education,
qualification, and experience along the complexity of construction projects, is
envisioned. Finally, this sludy serves as a model for similar challenges that
face a representative sample of privale sector finns operating in the
construction industry, |
