Abstract : The Study attempts to review the clash of civilizations theory and to evaluate its ability to explain the International relations in the past and in the future. The results of the study show that the clash of civilizations theory indicates that the new world order will be multipolar, each civilization constitutes a pole. More over, the theory predicts a clash between civilizations at the macro level between groups belonging to different civilizations and at the micro level between civilizations. The study also reviews studies indicating the clash of civilizations incapability as a framework to explain International relations in the past and the future. Finally, the study indicates the possible reasons that led Huntington to come up with his theory. Finally the study suggests some recommendations regarding how to deal with clash of civilizations theory.
