This study aims to measure the extent of compliance of Jordanian industrial corporations in applying the rules of the International Accounting Standard (IAS) No. sixteen, related to property, plant, and equipment. It also tries to determine the relationship between the extent of compliance to IAS 16 and the companies net fixed assets, net annual sales, qualifications, years of experience of accounting staff at these companies. It also defines the difficulties that limit the implementation of IAS 16, related to fixed assets.
To achieve these objectives, the researchers designed a questionnaire, where 81 questionnaires were distributed. 63 questionnaires were returned and subject for analysis, with a response rate of 77.8%.
After analyzing data of the study and testing its hypotheses, the following results were concluded:
* Jordanian industrial corporations do comply with IAS 16, related to fixed assets, as of: recognition, measurement, components of fixed assets.
* There is no significant statistical relationship between the extent of compliance of the Jordanian industrial corporations with IAS 16 rules, and their net of fixed assets, net sales, and qualifications, and years of experience of accounting staff at those companies.
* There are some difficulties facing the Jordanian industrial corporations that limit applying the rules of IAS 16, i.e., auditors do not refer to the extent of compliance of the Jordanian industrial corporations with the requirements of IAS 16. & deficiency of accounting teaching program in submitting the requirements of international accounting standards.
