Abstract : The Gulf countries seek to develop their own region. Integration is one of the tools to achieve this objective. These countries have common characteristics as well as different ones. Therefore, it is important for these countries to pinpoint these differences as integration becomes a reality. This paper investigates those differences in terms of GDP and level of prices. If the level of GDP is different, those countries with high GDP will enjoy faster development by attracting factors of production. A similar argument could be held for the level of prices. The methodology adopted in this study depends on the relationship between real and nominal GDP. This relationship is affected by the degree of closeness and openness of the economy. The empirical results show that there are differences in GDP per capita between the Gulf countries which were affected by the degree of openness and closeness of the economy. This shows the need for balancing these countries' flows of trade. On the other hand, the results show differences in the level of prices within these countries which were affected by the economic power.
