Abstract : In an attempt to establish the airborne spectrometric signatures of Gabal El-Bakriya granites, Central Eastern Desert, Egypt, the present work is achieved. Airborne ?-ray spectrometric data were found in referring to the effects of hydrothermal alteration processes on radioelement distributions in the mineralized younger granite. However, potassic alteration in the form of sericite and/or K-feldspar occurs proximal to mineralization is easily detected. This can be done by the high levels of K, the low level of eTh/K ratio and the high values of the three-element effective F- parameter (K.eU/eTh) in the vicinity of the U and Nb-Ta mineralization occurrences. K-eTh relation was chosen to establish the geological position of El-Bakriya granitic rocks. In addition, eTh-eU plots were used to detect the plutons which have been abnormally enriched or depleted in uranium with respect to the amount of thorium present.
